There have been several violent scenes around Swedish football in recent seasons.
Now several ultra groups that support Swedish football clubs are sending out a call: Pyrotechnics should not be thrown.
”We have decided to take responsibility”, they write in a statement.
In recent years, among other things, the number of thrown objects at Swedish football stadiums has increased significantly.
On top of that, several situations escalated last year in the stands around Allsvenskan matches with violent scenes. Not least with a large number of thrown pyrotechnic pieces in connection with matches.
At the end of January, the training match between Västerås and Djurgården was also canceled after pyrotechnic pieces were thrown between the teams’ supporters.
Now the majority of the ultras groupings of the Swedish elite associations go out in a joint call to put an end to the throwing of pyrotechnic pieces.

“We have decided to take responsibility”
”The recent clashes, especially the cases where pyrotechnics are thrown, risk creating a climate where it will be difficult for us ultras to exercise our support from the stands. Above all, innocent supporters are affected. If something is to change, the initiative must come from the supporter culture itself”they write in a statement.
They point out that the pyrotechnics should only be used for “mood-raising purposes” and that “pyrotechnics should not be thrown onto the football pitch or towards supporters, players or officials in the arena”.
”We have decided to take responsibility – on our terms – for how the pyrotechnics are used in the arenas. We do this in order to continue to be able to deliver events in Europe’s top class, but also to demonstrate that it is us, and not, for example, the police or politicians, who shape the Swedish stands”, write the ultra groupings.
