On Sunday, Sweden’s Minister of Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin said that there could be war in the country and that everyone must take action to strengthen the country’s resilience, reports Swedish TV 4.
Bohlin believes it is urgent and said at a conference that he is concerned that the rearming of the civil defense in Sweden is not going fast enough, writes the channel.
The minister receives generous support from defense minister Micael Bydén.
– It is a very serious situation, and that could not have been said more clearly yesterday. It is now about moving from words and understanding to action, says Bydén to Nyhetsmorgen on TV 4.

He emphasizes that the situation is not hopeless, and that much has been done to strengthen the Swedish defense in recent years. The country is also on the threshold of being admitted to NATO, and the sooner that happens, the better, he points out.
– But you have to understand how serious this is and that, right down to the individual level, you have to prepare mentally. Look at the news reports from Ukraine and ask yourself the simple questions: If it happens here, do I have things in place? What should I do? The more people who have thought, wondered and prepared, the stronger our society is, he says.
