The women’s national team’s three opponents in the upcoming EC qualifiers are ready. After Tuesday’s draw, it is clear that Sweden has been placed in group A3 together with France, England and Ireland.
– We are really looking forward to getting together in April to start the work towards reaching European Championship 2025, says federation captain Peter Gerhardsson.
On Wednesday, the women’s national team secured their place in the qualifying game’s A division by defeating Bosnia-Herzegovina in the playoff. An important step in order to get the best possible conditions in the European Championship qualifiers, which kick off at the beginning of April, in the search for a place in the European Championship in Switzerland 2025.
On Tuesday, the draw for the qualifying game for the championship took place, and when all the balls were drawn it was clear that France, England and Ireland are the three teams that form group A3 together with Sweden.
– Given that we managed to keep our place in the A division, we were aware that we would be up against really good opposition in this upcoming European Championship qualifier, with Europe’s currently top 16 nations spread over the four pots. There will be six tough and interesting matches and we are really looking forward to getting together in April to start the work towards reaching European Championship 2025, says federation captain Peter Gerhardsson.
The EC qualifiers are played between April and July spread over three groups and six matches, with two matches during each group. The first two matches are played during the campaign which runs between 1 and 9 April, the next two matches are played during the campaign which runs between 27 May and 4 June, before the European Championship qualifiers conclude with two matches between 8 and 16 July.
After the July gathering, when six matches have been played, the two best teams in all four groups in the A division will directly qualify for the European Championships in Switzerland 2025, where the third and fourth in each group will continue to play in the playoffs during the fall.
– It is an obvious goal that we want to qualify for the next possible championship, the EC in Switzerland 2025. It will be an intense spring and summer where every match will be extremely important in the search for a place in the EC, of course with the aim of securing a place in the EC already in the group stage, concludes Gerhardsson.
The game schedule for the European Championship qualifiers is expected to be confirmed by Uefa in the next few days, and we will update svenskfotboll.se as soon as the game schedule is fully determined.
The tickets for the first home game, which will be played during the collection that runs between April 1 and 9, will be tentatively released at the beginning of next week.
