The reason is the risk of increased spread of infection.
– Sweden is not isolated from the outside world. Those who are unvaccinated run a greater risk of spreading the infection further.
– That’s a tough message to give. We all want the pandemic to be over, said the Swedish Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Certificate of theater, but not restaurant
What is defined as public events are sports events, theater performances, cinemas, concerts, markets and fairs, among other things. In addition, demonstrations, religious meetings and lectures may be included.
It should not be relevant to have to show the certificate to enter a restaurant as long as there is no live music or dancing in the restaurant room.
Shops, schools or public transport are also not defined as public gatherings.
In cases where the requirement for a corona certificate does not apply, other types of restrictions and rules will apply. Among other things, there will probably be rules on the number of people per square meter and the distance between groups.
The same rules will apply where the organizers do not choose to require a corona certificate. For the certificate scheme will probably not be mandatory, the Swedish authorities state.
Ice hockey series positive
It is the Public Health Authority that has submitted its advice to the government.
– You have previously heard me talk about vaccination certificates as “plan B”. Now the time has come, said Minister of Culture Amanda Lind.
The management of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and the ice hockey series are positive about the introduction of the planned corona certificate.
– If a corona passport is to be introduced, the most important thing for us is that we can still have full stands. Therefore, we have been positive to a corona certificate if you avoid other types of restrictions in addition, says Jenny Silfverstrand in SHL.
Throughout the autumn, the government has kept in constant contact with the public health authorities about corona passports as an infection-limiting measure. The decision today is therefore not surprising.
In the last two days, 13 new corona deaths have been registered in Sweden. 15,107 people have died as a result of covid-19, reports SVT.
A total of 1,186,387 Swedes have been registered as infected with corona, but the dark numbers are believed to be large.
