Sweden has recorded the highest number of new corona infections within one day. The health authority reports that 1,474 diseases have been added. The record increase is a “direct consequence of increased tests”. This also covered cases in which those affected had shown only mild symptoms. A total of 48,300 infections have now been confirmed.
The number of corona deaths reportedly rose by 19 to 4,814. Per capita this is significantly more than in the neighboring northern European countries, but less than in the worst affected European countries Spain, Great Britain and Italy. Sweden has opted for voluntary measures rather than regulations. However, the mortality rate is higher than in other Nordic countries.
