A man was shot and killed in Malmö on Monday night, according to Swedish police, who suspect he was shot accidentally. A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with murder.
The man in his 50s was in an apartment when he was shot and seriously injured, the police write in a press release on Monday evening. Police believe the shots were fired from outside, through a window.
The wife of the murdered man says to the Swedish newspaper The Express that the family was sleeping.
– What should I say? We lay down and slept. I don’t understand it, she says to the newspaper.
According to Swedish TV4, the police suspect that the man was killed in a botched shooting and that another person may have been the target.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Monday morning and charged in the case.
The man was taken to hospital where he died a few hours later as a result of his injuries. It is not known if other people were in the apartment when the photos fell.
Police also found a suspicious object outside the apartment where the shooting took place, and bomb experts will examine the object.
