Sweden has announced a new $2.2 billion aid package for Ukraine, which includes sending JAS Gripen fighter jets. This was announced by the country’s Minister of Defense Paul Junson. However, according to him, sending aircraft is only possible if Sweden joins NATO.
“JAS Gripen can only become relevant after Sweden becomes a NATO member,” Jonsson said. His words are quoted by the Swedish television company Swedish Television.
Earlier, the Swedish Defense Minister announced that the country had sent aid to Ukraine in the amount of $314 million, reports “Reedus” Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk stated that the Ukrainian authorities asked Sweden to transferred to Gripen Kyiv.
