Washington (23) played four years at Wingate University and was elected to the 1st Team All-Conference and All-Region twice in a row. With 36 victories during his time at Wingate, he was one of the most successful graduating classes in university history. Several teams from the NFL expressed an interest in Washington before the coronavirus pandemic struck. In 2017 he and his team won the Conference Championship.
In four years at Wingate University, Washington scored 119 tackles, blocked 38 passes, caught 6 interceptions, and forced and captured a fumble.
