Jakarta –
Apple added a new feature to make it easier for iPhone users who are about to move their “SIM card” to iPhone the new one, that is through Bluetooth. How come?
The SIM card referred to here is of course an eSIM, not a physical SIM card. Well, on an iPhone running iOS 16moving the eSIM to another iPhone can be done via Bluetooth, without having to scan a QR code as usual.
However, according to MacRumors, eSIM transfer via Bluetooth can only be done if the operator used supports it. This is because each operator applies a different eSIM installation method.
There are operators that allow users to use a QR code to install an eSIM, but there are also those who have to contact the operator to get a new eSIM, as quoted by detikINET from The VergeSaturday (11/6/2022).
So far in Indonesia there is only Smartfren that provides SIM cards in the form of an eSIM, and the installation method is done by scanning the QR code on the package or sending it via email.
It’s just, keep in mind for now iOS 16 still in developer beta. So maybe there will still be changes to its features. It’s also unknown how many carriers support this feature, until iOS 16 is fully launched in the next few months.
Some of the key features in iOS 16 include a lock screen display that can be customized with widgets, notification changes on the lock screen, editable iMessage messages, iCloud shared photo library and so on.
There are many new features that Apple has brought to iOS 16. Unfortunately not all devices get this operating system update, at least iPhone 8.
This condition is different from iOS 15. When this operating system was released in 2021, all iPhones running iOS 14 could upgrade.
Currently there are some devices that previously received iOS 15 cannot update to iOS 16, and the oldest device that can be updated to iOS 16 is the iPhone 8. Apple did not explain why the iPhone did not get the update.
