Svrčinová came up with a proposal to abandon antigen tests as part of the measures at Tuesday’s meeting of the Central Management Team. According to her plan, only PCR tests were to be expected in the future.

However, as the hygienist later stated for Czech Television, the plan was rejected. In the future, however, only the PCR method could be tested, for example, in the classroom, if the relevant hygienic station so decides.

“We cannot stop recognizing antigenic tests completely, because they are recognized as relevant in the territory of the European Community and are recognized by the European Community. That is how they will be recognized in that cross-border relationship, of course. We are also discussing the possibility of recognizing only the more accurate PCR tests in a certain situation, “said the chief hygienist for Czech Television and mentioned schools where PCR tests might be preferred in the future when investigating outbreaks.

According to the epidemiological survey, only these tests will be “prescribed” by the regional hygienic stations, according to Svrčinová.

Now it will work in schools as it does now. And if the regional hygiene station needs to test two or three classes, it will introduce requests into the system and the children will go for PCR tests, the hygienist added.

Tests in schools
According to information from Tuesday’s meeting of the central management team, it also emerged that after November 15, local testing could end in schools in districts where there are over 300 new cases of covid-19 infection per 100,000 inhabitants per week. After this date, testing would only take place where ordered by the regional hygienist, and only PCR tests would be used. In schools, children on covid-19 were tested this Monday in eight districts. Next Monday, testing will be repeated and expanded by another 23 districts, and the last round of local testing should be on November 15.

After that, it would be tested only where ordered by the regional hygienic station, for example on the basis of whether one of the pupils or employees had a positive covid test. Testing would then be exclusively a PCR method, which is more accurate than antigen tests, which are mostly used in schools.

Regional hygienists have great competencies, so I personally have nothing against it, “said Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) in Glasgow. “We discussed various other measures at the Health Risk Council yesterday (Monday), there is no agreement. I don’t know if they have reached new situations within the clinical group, but I don’t have such a report yet, “he added.

The Ministry of Health faced due to the selection of districts in which it is being tested criticism. According to Minister Robert Plaga (for YES), the Ministry of Health should decide on the classification of districts according to predictions of the epidemic development, not according to week-old data on the number of infected.
