The vice president of the Venezuelan Society of Infectious Diseases, Patricia Valenzuela, warned that although the cases of covid-19 have decreased in Venezuela and the world, the SARS-CoV-2 virus continues to circulate and the population must continue to take care of themselves because from mild forms to severe ones can cause Post Covid Condition (PCC).
During the interview offered to El Informador Venezuela, he noted that the symptoms can appear eight weeks or six months after suffering the disease.
The population must take care of itself -insisted the doctor- “because we don’t know when that Post Covid Condition could last, we don’t know when exactly it will appear. As there may also be symptoms of an acute episode that persist over time”.
He explained that among the clinical manifestations are palpitations, dizziness, joint pain, precordial pain, chest pain, elevated blood pressure, elevated glycemia, or blood sugar, he explained.
Actually, PCC is one of the reasons why it is recommended to continue the use of masks in public transportation, air travel, conference rooms and classrooms are full capacity.
