Sven Kockelmann thinks his new co-host Fidan Ekiz is quite an explosive woman. “She reacts strongly to things,” says the presenter, who presents the talk show Op1 with her.
They are the brand new duo of the talk show Op1: Sven Kockelmann and Fidan Ekiz. The two get along well, he says in conversation with the Weekend. “I think she’s very original, she’s not afraid, she’s up to date, she knows a lot, she has guts, an explosive character. Everything I find important in a colleague.”
Explosive Fidan
Sven thinks they can ‘do something really fun at Op1’ together. When asked what he means by Fidan’s explosive character, he replies: “She reacts fiercely to things, involved and sometimes emotional, angry or happy, so a very explosive person and I like that.”
The two are very much on the same page. “When we talk about what we think the program should be like and our collaboration should look like. We always agree very quickly, it’s almost like I’ve been working with her for a year. We clicked very well from my side.”
No collisions
Have the two clashed over Fidan’s fierceness? “No not at all. I have to laugh a lot at her and I believe she sometimes also a little about me. I really like our collaboration. I don’t like gray mice, and Fidan is anything but. She is a very good journalist, knows her trade. That is very nice.”
“I don’t like shades of gray, I really like it when people are outspoken, a bit extroverted and don’t always color safely within the lines, but sometimes also look for the boundaries of those lines and sometimes go beyond them. That makes life more interesting and exciting. That also applies to our profession.”
