Will Mitchell Weiser still be part of Werder Bremen next season? This question arises a few weeks before the end of the season. According to the Bild there are signs that the loan from Bayer Leverkusen remains a green and white.
The right-back, who has not received much esteem in Leverkusen recently, feels very comfortable in Bremen. He can therefore very well imagine staying in the Weser, especially since his situation at Bayer 04 is unlikely to have changed much. According to the Bild his regular club no longer plans with him.
Werder are also interested in an extension
According to the report, SV Werder can also imagine further cooperation with Weiser. The prerequisite for this, of course, is that Weiser waives his salary. The 27-year-old earned good money in Leverkusen. Bremen, however, cannot raise such sums.
Those responsible at SV Werder would have to pay a transfer fee for Weiser anyway. However, since he is only under contract until 2023 and Leverkusen would like to remove him from the payroll, this should not carry much weight.
Clemens Fritz, Head of Licensing at SVW, says about a possible permanent commitment of the defender: “Mitchell has shown what he’s made of this year. When Mitch is at his top level, he can bring a lot of joy. We will discuss everything else.”
Weiser collects more minutes again
In terms of sport, Weiser is much more appreciated in Bremen than in Leverkusen. Although he was not always seeded this season due to open competition with Werder’s Felix Agu, he was able to prove his qualities. If SVW could return to the Bundesliga, he should still have a chance of a regular place.
