SV Sandhausen faces relegation after disappointing defeat to Duisburg: Imhof and Keller demand response from team

SV Sandhausen can finally forget about the relegation stage and thus also the promotion they originally aimed for. Due to the 1:3 in Duisburg, SVS is nine points behind in third place. Coach Jens Keller was furious with his team’s performance shortly after the opening stage.

Imhof cites evidence of “bottomless performance”

By the 35th matchday, SV Sandhausen could still keep an eye on relegation. But that has now finally been resolved due to the poor performance against relegation candidate MSV Duisburg (1:3). Knitting expects a proper response from the team

Coach Jens Keller was also tough on his team. “We started the game well, but what happened after the tenth minute was frustrating,” confirmed the football coach. “We have to talk about it and we can’t let it go like this.” When the score was 0-0, Alexander Mühling missed a penalty, then the Ruhrpottlers took advantage of Sandhausen’s poor form and led 2-0 after the first half thanks to goals from Alexander Esswein and Benjamin Girth.

Although the hosts improved after an apparently louder call from Keller after the break, they could not get more than 2-1. Duisburg even made it 3-1. “We didn’t finish well, but the Duisburg goalkeeper also had a very good day. Nevertheless, we deserved to lose today,” said Knipping, who is now hoping for a response from the team. “It’s about everyone being proud of it now. The club owes it to us to give everything in the next three games and try to win them.” On the next matchday, SVS will host Rot-Weiss Essen at home.
