If it gets too quiet for him in the Whatsapp group of his footballers from SV Lohhof II during these Corona days, Ronny Teske publishes the running data for his most recent jogging laps there. “It’s such a little clit of mine,” says the trainer and laughs. “A thumbs up or a ‘Hey Coach, so slow!’ back.”
– Perhaps, Teske hopes, it will motivate one or the other player to lace up their jogging shoes regularly. After all, he urged his kickers to keep themselves fit in this football-free time. Whereby the trainer of the district classist admits: “At the moment the whole thing has fallen asleep because there is no perspective when it could start again.” , reports Teske. They only write on birthdays. And of course when the coach tickles with his running data.
Otherwise, however, it is currently difficult to maintain solidarity in the team, says Teske. He and his coaching colleague Daniel Puppenberger could also “plan practically nothing”, because you don’t know when and how things will go next. Will the season even end? “It will definitely be difficult,” believes Teske. A continuation would be significant for his SVL, as the team is currently at the bottom of the table. In other words: In the event of a break in the season including a rating, Lohhof would go down to the A-class.
“That would be fatal for us,” says the coach. After all, despite being five points behind a non-relegation place, he still sees chances of staying up. On the one hand, they showed promising performances in the autumn games. On the other hand, the SVL can still compete against several direct competitors. Will it come to that? “Nobody can really say that at the moment,” says Teske. Regardless of this, both his players and the coaches look forward to a resumption of training. “Football and also the social contacts”, says Ronny Teske, “all of that is very much missing”.
