For years, Lorenzo Coco was considered one of the biggest talents in FC Red Bull Salzburg’s youth department.
But the Corona period put the Austro-Italian, who was under contract with RB Leipzig’s youth team at the time, out of step: “I had to leave the boarding school and wasn’t allowed to train with the team for several months. Unfortunately, that set me back,” says the 20-year-old offensive player to the “Salzburger News”.
In focus as Horn’s top assist provider
The talent’s path led via Großaspach to Ried, where, despite strong performances with the amateurs, he did not get any playing time in the professional team. “It’s a shame. I would have liked to show my skills and am convinced that I would have prevailed.”
In the summer, Ried and Lorenzo Coco parted ways and moved on to Horn. The former Bulls talent has been convincing there in the Admiral 2nd League ever since. With five assists, he is SV Horn’s top assist provider. He also scored his first goal in Austria’s second division in round eleven.
“I feel very comfortable. The club is very well positioned and it’s fun to work with the team,” says Coco.
Dream of involvement in Italy should become reality
Despite the fact that the 20-year-old feels right at home in the Waldviertel, SV Horn will only remain a stopover. With his convincing performances, the Austro-Italian is an issue at one or two Austrian Bundesliga clubs. There is also said to be interest in Coco from Italy.
Lorenzo Coco himself has ambitious goals: “I want to assert myself in professional football. At first glance, Horn may be a step back. But for me it was exactly the right path. I want to take the next step in the summer. The Austrian Bundesliga is very “It’s interesting, but my dream is to get a contract in my home country of Italy. I work very hard for that in training every day.”
