Regensburg – SV Darmstadt 98 has increased the pressure on first round champions FC St. Pauli and remains clearly on the way to promotion in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Even without their injured striker Luca Pfeiffer, the team of coach Torsten Lieberknecht worked out a 2-0 (0-0) at SSV Jahn Regensburg. With 35 points now, Darmstadt, who only determined the game in the first half, are still in second place and reduced the deficit to one point after Hamburg’s 0-3 slip at Holstein Kiel.

Regensburg, who only woke up after the break, suffered their fifth defeat in the sixth game. You still stay on the ranks with 28 points. Emir Karic (70th) scored in the middle of the Regensburg pressure phase and almost increased it eleven minutes later. Tobias Kempe (90 + 3) even increased immediately before the final whistle.

The Darmstadt team had their first chance through the dangerous Tim Skarke after less than 30 seconds. His right-footed shot hit the post. In the 21st minute, the busy Jahn goalkeeper Alex Meyer was on the post when Skarkes shot the next long shot. Against no-frills guests, the Regensburg team was only able to keep keeper Marcel Schschuhe a bit busy with Andreas Albers’ (34th) shot from the edge of the penalty area – they didn’t offer anything more offensively.

Jahn came out of the cabin transformed and with steam. Max Besuschkow (57th) failed volley after a corner. The suddenly free-standing Sarpreet Singh (68.) should have hit from eleven meters. Darmstadt’s first goal came as a surprise: Phillip Tietz took the ball from Jan Elvedi and put it back on Karic, who pushed in flat. Kempe added one more time.
