SV and the government parties agree on electricity measures

– With this proposal, we park all unrest whether there will be measures or not, says SV leader Audun Lysbakken to NTB.

The three budget comrades agreed on the proposal late Wednesday night, which at the same time prevents a majority for a number of other proposals that will be presented in the Storting on Thursday on various support schemes for people with high electricity bills.

The proposal the three have agreed on reads:

“The Storting asks the government to return to the Storting quickly with possible measures that can reduce the financial burden on households in the short term and especially look at measures that can alleviate groups that are particularly hard hit by extraordinarily high electricity prices.”

Yesterday, a number of proposals came from the opposition on how the state can alleviate people’s high electricity costs.

  • FRP proposes to pay 4,000 kroner in electricity support to each household in Norway. * Venstre, Høyre and KrF propose to give students 1,000 kroner extra in scholarships, according to VG.
  • Rødt will propose to provide the extra VAT revenues and the increased dividend from Statkraft to the population, according to E24.
  • In its alternative state budget for next year, MDG proposes to distribute the entire profit to Statkraft, which is estimated at 5 billion, to all Norwegians, Klassekampen writes on Friday.
  • Yesterday, SV wanted to demand cash support to help people with the electricity bill.
