After launching in the middle of last month, we finally had the opportunity to try out the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid in the Yogyakarta area. Present as one of the cheapest hybrid cars in Indonesia, how much Suzuki XL7 Hybrid fuel consumption?
The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid driven by the detikOto team is the Alpha type as the highest variant. While one vehicle is occupied by three people, including the detikOto team.
The trip we took focused only on the Yogyakarta area. However, the terrain that we traversed was practically diverse, ranging from urban streets, up and down hills, residential areas, to narrow paths with winding routes.

Marketing Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS), Donny Saputra, said that his party deliberately chose this route to find out how the sensation of driving the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid is on various types of roads.
“This pilot activity for media partners aims to provide the opportunity to drive long distances, as well as an exciting picture for Indonesian families who want to go on an adventure using the XL7 Hybrid,” said Donny Saputra in Yogyakarta.
It is known, the hybrid technology embedded in the XL7 hybrid is a mild-hybrid which involves a small electric generator to replace the role of the traditional starter motor and alternator.

The mild-hybrid technology called SHVS is coupled with the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a 10Ah 12v lithium ion battery to lighten the work of the K15B engine carried by the vehicle. Meanwhile, the battery is charged from regenerative braking which collects energy when decelerating.
The existence of this technology makes the machine work lighter at the beginning. In addition, at the same output, its fuel consumption is claimed to be more efficient than an internal combustion engine.

From the results of the tests that the author and the team have carried out, the Suzuki XL7 Hybrid’s fuel consumption was recorded at 10.5 km/liter. The nominal is printed on the Average Fuel Consumption (AFC) indicator on the multi-information display (MID) for nearly 100 km of travel.

It should be understood, this figure is the result of computing a computer device. We ourselves do not apply eco-driving techniques when driving a car. In fact, we turned off the start/stop system feature which should save fuel consumption.
During the test drive session, the other participants’ cars recorded various fuel consumption. While the highest figure reached 13.8 kilometers per liter by activating the start/stop system from the start of testing.
