Hayabusa – everyone in the motorcycle scene probably knows this name. Suzuki’s flagship model debuted at the 1998 Intermot show in Germany before hitting the market in 1999. It was the first speed bike to reach a top speed of over 300 km/h. This brought her worldwide fame. The model name Hayabusa was no coincidence: the now legendary Suzuki was named after the Japanese peregrine falcon, which can reach speeds of over 300 km/h when swooping.
Suzuki Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition 2024
In 2024, after 25 years, Suzuki will celebrate the Hayabusa with a special model – the Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition. The technically unchanged basis for this is the current, third generation Suzuki Hayabusa. Underneath the aerodynamically optimized fairing is the notorious and proven water-cooled in-line four-cylinder engine with 1,340 cubic meters. Its Euro 5-compliant key data is: 190 hp (140 kW) at 9,700 rpm, 150 Nm at 7,000 rpm.
190 hp and 299 km/h as the high Hayabusa standard
The Ram Air system offers the prospect of a few additional horsepower at high speeds. As has been the case for years, the top speed of the anniversary model remains electronically limited to 299 km/h. The double loop aluminum frame and the adjustable chassis components from Kayaba (KYB) ensure adequately stable driving behavior. Likewise the Stylema brakes from Brembo. The third Hayabusa generation features a wide range of electronic assistants, such as cruise control or the bi-directional quickshifter. Of course also ABS and slip control, each with lean angle optimization.
Homage to the legendary Suzuki
Externally, the Suzuki Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition stands out with the color combination of “Glass Blaze Orange” and “Glass Sparkle Black”. The tank is adorned with a raised, three-dimensional Suzuki logo, while the two long silencers have the 25th anniversary logo as a pearl-blasted engraving. There are also Hayabusa symbols as well as gold-colored anodized accents, for example on the chain, chain tensioner and brake disc inner ring. Standards that have long been appreciated by fans are the iconic Hayabusa Kanji decorations on the fairing and the pillion cushion cover in the form of an aerodynamic hump.
Hayabusa as a limited edition for 19,000 euros
Suzuki presented the Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition in mid-July 2023. This limited edition will be distributed to a total of 7 countries, including the USA and – of course – Japan. 300 specimens are planned for the peregrine falcon’s homeland. There will be 50 copies of the anniversary edition available in Germany, from September 2023 for 19,000 euros each. Compared to the basic model, which currently costs 18,500 euros, this is only an additional 500 euros. Incidentally, only 10 copies are planned for Italy, each priced at 20,790 euros.
Attractive collectibles for fans. I would like something special too. Just a way to make money. Standard is cheaper.
The Hayabusa 25th Anniversary Edition is Suzuki’s homage to its own flagship. Technically, the current, third generation of Hayabusa remains unchanged as the basis, i.e. with a 1,340 cubic and 190 hp in-line four-cylinder engine, a high-speed chassis and modern electronics. The exterior of the anniversary special model is adorned with the color combination of “Glass Blaze Orange” and “Glass Sparkle Black” as well as gold-colored anodized details and specific markings. There will only be 50 copies of this limited edition available in Germany, from September 2023 for 19,000 euros each.
