Suzuki expands with Across!

Suzuki and Toyota are creeping closer together. Perhaps the most obvious and surprising consequence of the ever closer cooperation is this brand new Suzuki Across. In fact a Toyota RAV4, but from Suzuki. The nice news: he is just coming to the Netherlands!

Toyota sells a Suzuki Baleno with Toyota logos in the form of the Glanza in India, but previous reports had already shown that the collaboration between the two Japanese brands would not stop there. Suzuki today presents the Across, a Toyota RAV4 with Suzuki logos!

It might be a bit crazy to see a RAV4 with Suzuki decals and it may take some time before we get used to that. However, the Across gets its own front with new, flatter and wider headlights, a new grille that resembles that of cars like the Swift and its own front bumper. On the back we do not notice any significant differences and the same applies to the interior. Inside, except for the Suzuki badges, the Across is identical to the RAV4.

While you can get the RAV4 in the Netherlands with a conventional petrol engine and as a Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid, the Suzuki Across has so far only been presented with the plug-in hybrid powertrain. That means that Suzuki’s newcomer immediately has a solid bonk ability. Under the hood is the 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine from Toyota, which works together with a powerful electric motor. That brings the system power to 306 hp. This means that the Across, like the RAV4 PHEV, sprints from 0 to 100 km / h in 6 seconds. More interesting is of course the electric range. The 18.1 kWh battery pack helps the four-wheel drive Across with an electric range of 75 kilometers. Certainly not crazy.

Of course, the Across also benefits from the extensive range of safety systems that Toyota has developed for the RAV4. Standard equipment includes Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Road Sign Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Pre-Collision System and Rear Crossing Traffic Alert. Thanks to Lane Tracing Assist, the Across even keeps itself neatly in the middle of the lane. More tangible indulgence comes in the form of LED headlights, extensive climate control, 19-inch alloy and an infotainment system that supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto, among others.

The Across will be available in the third quarter of this year. Prices are released in the run-up to market launch.
