Kolkata: The BJP has been cut off from the old scenes of Suvendu Adhikari taking bribes after the Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee defected in Bengal. In 2016, video footage of Suvendu Adhikari and Mukul Roy taking bribes was released through the BJP’s official YouTube channel. These scenes are now going viral.
Mukul Roy left the Trinamool Congress and joined the BJP three years ago. The BJP had then used the video footage released in 2016 as a weapon against the Trinamool Congress. Matthew Samuel of Narada News carried out the camera operation that day. Trinamool leaders and a senior police official were seen taking bribes in exchange for illegally giving benefits to a company. With this, the BJP launched a massive campaign. Leaders, including Amit Shah, lashed out at them.
But the BJP does not know how to defend itself when the same leaders join the BJP over the years.
Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra has also criticized the BJP over the incident. Mahua also tweeted a screenshot of the video being removed from the BJP’s YouTube.
