The most recent “branding” of commercial vehicles in family SUVs in Europe was the trio of Citroën C4 Aircross, Peugeot 4008 and Mitsubishi ASX. Suzuki is now working on a similar story in collaboration with Toyota.

The new Across has a different front bumper and headlights, in the rest you will probably recognize the “rave”. As in the interior with a nine-inch infotainment, where at first glance the novelty differs only in the steering wheel.

Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

In terms of technology, Suzuki will use the latest in the RAV4 portfolio. The plug-in hybrid variant uses an atmospherically filled 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an output of 136 kW (185 hp) and a torque of 227 Nm.

It is assisted on the front axle by an electric motor with an output of 134 kW (182 hp) and 270 Nm, on the rear it has 40 kW (54 hp) and 121 Nm, so it is a car with all-wheel drive. Toyota’s system power is 302 horsepower, but Suzuki has not yet stated this value. The battery capacity is 18.1 kWh, and Across should be able to handle up to 75 kilometers on a single charge.

The model is confirmed for the Czech market, it will reach us at the beginning of next year for an as yet unspecified price tag. It is also unclear whether the first plug-in hybrid in the brand’s European range will be accompanied in the future by a variant with a conventional drive.
