A recent study: An ambitious person is at risk of dying at an earlier age
A new study indicated that ambitious people may achieve a prestigious position and a salary that secures a luxurious life, but they are only marginally happier than others, and they often die at an earlier age. The study advised parents not to put pressure on their children to achieve this financial situation at the expense of their health and happiness. The study reached this conclusion after psychiatrists in the United States of America analyzed the levels of ambition among 717 people aged seventy and over.
The study followed people born in the first half of the twentieth century and continued to monitor their subsequent lives, documenting the age at which they departed from this world. The Daily Express newspaper quoted the head of the research team that conducted the study, Timothy Jage from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, saying that the researchers discovered that ambition has a much weaker effect on achieving happiness and satisfaction in life, and it actually has a somewhat negative impact on the quality of life. Professor Gage explained that if parents’ wish is for their children to live a happy and healthy life, they should not exaggerate in pushing them to achieve professional success.
