Converted into nearly two and a half billion crowns, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan were supposed to dribble out of the lucrative deal with the Netflix streaming platform. But they signed here as early as 2020 and haven’t filmed anything since. Now that the documentary about their lives is finally coming out and the crew is finishing work in the editing room, the couple are knocking on their knees. Apparently, they attacked the royal family again in front of the camera, so now they are afraid that after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. it would ruin the document for them.
The situation is even so serious that Harry and Meghan have to vehemently beg the Netflix directors to remove some filmed passages in which they speak in particular of King Charles III. and his wife Camille, were completely excluded from the documentary. This was reported by the British media, such as the well-known Daily Mail, with reference to sources close to the couple.
“Their requests to download content that they themselves have provided to the camera are significant. So much so, in fact, that some Netflix employees think that if it ends this way, the project will have to be shelved indefinitely.” a source tells the Daily Mail.
“They want to tone down even the most basic things they said to the camera”, agrees another person familiar with the events surrounding Harry and Meghan.
But this is precisely the obstacle. The documentary was originally slated for this year, the Netflix bosses would like to follow it up with the latest series of the Crown series, at the latest early next year. So there is no time for such fundamental changes.
Officials from the streaming giant are expected to specifically request that the release date be respected, after a task force led by Academy Award-winning director Liz Garbus.
Harry and Meghan return in the crosshairs of criticism after the birth of their daughter Lilibet.
Harry doesn’t even like the term itself. Presumably, he should have requested that, in view of Queen Elizabeth’s death, the series would definitely not be released until next year.
