Staff at the Media Park in Hilversum were advised to stay indoors on Monday morning. The police confirm that there was ‘a suspicious situation’. It is not yet clear what exactly is going on.

A police helicopter flew above the Media Park for half an hour and extra surveillance was conducted around the complex. Parts of the Media Park were cordoned off with tape. The helicopter took off again around 11:15 am.

A letter distributed to employees of various media companies spoke of a ‘possible unsafe situation’.

The police announced around 12:30 that the situation was under control. “Research is still being done. We are alert,” a police spokesperson said.
