“If you need the help of a police officer, press the number key twice.”

“……………”

At 8:07 on the 5th, a call was received at the 112 Security General Situation Room of the Incheon Police Agency. However, the caller said nothing and the police officer ordered him to press the number button if he needed help.

However, the caller remained silent throughout the call. He might have thought it was a wrong call, but the policeman concentrated on the sound coming from the receiver without arousing suspicions about the “suspicious silence”. After that, I heard the faint sound of men and women arguing.

As a result, the police officer determined the current situation to be an emergency, operated the tracking system (LBS), and issued a “Code 1” order to the police station. Code 1 is issued when life or bodily harm is imminent or in progress.

Upon receiving the order, police officers from the district division were dispatched to an Incheon officetel which was secured through location tracking. During the dispatch, I called the reporter again, but at that moment the reporter communicated his intention to cancel the report, saying: “I pressed the wrong button.” But at this moment, the reporter was crying.

The police officers persistently persuaded the complainant, “You need to see and check if it’s safe,” and quickly arrived at the scene after finding out the house’s floor number.

Having rang the bell, the young man calmly opened the door. At that moment, the reporter silently walked out of the room and asked the police officer for help, saying “Please save me” only with a bite so that the man would not notice.

Subsequently, officers took the complainant out of the home and arrested the man on charges of grievous bodily harm. It is known that this man was the journalist’s ex-boyfriend. At the time, he was accused of hitting the reporter in the face and stabbing him once with a weapon.

A police official said: “When you get a ‘non-response report’ like this case, it’s important not to miss even the smallest clue.”
