The suspicious postal item at the town hall in Oirschot does not appear to be dangerous, the police reported. It was a bag of white crystal-like powder. The police do not yet know what kind of substance it is, except that it does not pose any danger.
A number of people who came into contact with the mail item were quarantined in a separate room as a precaution.

The report of the mail item came around a quarter to one. One of the employees of the town hall found the suspicious mail item. The police initially did not comment on the contents.
“But there were suspicious circumstances under which the package was found,” said a police spokesman.
Emergency services arrived at the town hall, including a specialist with knowledge of suspicious packages. This specialist has investigated what the postal item may be. The investigation shows that there is no danger.
City Hall is temporarily closed to visitors. We have asked the municipality for a response, a spokesperson has indicated to respond on Thursday afternoon.
