A suspicious package was found at the Military Postal Organization (MPO) in Utrecht. The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee announces that no dangerous substances were eventually found. The building on Europalaan was evacuated and cordoned off during the investigation. The MPO sends mail to soldiers abroad.
In addition to the Defense Explosives Clearance Service, the so-called CBRN Response Unit was also present. It specializes in incidents involving dangerous chemicals. A decontamination facility had been set up, where people can be cleaned if they have come into contact with a dangerous substance.
It is standard procedure to call in these units in such an incident. Exactly what the powdery substance in the package was has not been disclosed.
