Suspicious letter from Venray is false alarm | Inland

The spokeswoman refers to the powder letters that were delivered to at least nineteen addresses in the Netherlands last week. Media companies, hotels, offices, but also hospitals were targeted. The Laurentius hospital in Roermond, not far from Venray, also received an envelope.

Police took the post for further investigation. The hospital spokeswoman was unable to provide further details as to what the envelope looked like. Last Friday, the police distributed images of one of the powder letters sent.

Experts warned last week that copy cats often get started when there is media attention for powder letters. A spokeswoman for the police says that it is probably not an action of a copycat, and certainly not of a powder letter.

The fact that the letter turned up on Monday is striking, because usually no mail is delivered on the first day of the working week. However, it may well be that the letter has already arrived at the hospital on Saturday or earlier, the spokeswoman said. Mail is not handled at the VieCuri on weekends.
