There is a suspicious delay in the examination of Georgi Semerdzhiev, the recidivist with over 50 traffic violations, who ran over two girls with his powerful Audi jeep, “24 Chasa” learned. The tragedy happened on July 5 in the evening on Cherni Vrah Blvd. in the center of Sofia. Semerdzhiev went into hiding and was arrested at noon the next day, July 6.
However, it is not yet clear whether he used drugs before the crash. Due to the delay in the results in one laboratory, the investigators sent blood to another. However, they were unable to explain the reason for the delay in the results, which are usually ready within a day. The samples must show exactly when Semerdzhiev used drugs. From the very beginning, doubts arose that he could build a defense version that he had used drugs after the accident. Blood was forcibly taken from the repeat offender on July 7, two days after the crash. Before that, they searched for him for 12 hours, during which he was at home with the help of police officer Simona Radeva.
On Thursday, Georgi Semerdzhiev will appear before the Court of Appeal in Sofia to appeal the permanent arrest imposed on him by the first instance on Saturday. It is expected at the meeting

Later, the Sofia City Court did not accept the qualification of the accusation. Nikolov was sentenced to 8 years in prison. On Wednesday, the case was supposed to start at the second instance in the Court of Appeal, but due to contacts with a person infected with the coronavirus, Christian Nikolov did not appear and the hearing was postponed to October.
Georgi Semerdzhiev was charged with drug possession. Amphetamine was found in the jeep with which he killed the two young women, for which Semerdzhiev was charged with the fourth charge. The drugs were among his personal belongings in the front of the SUV, which split in half. The quantity was not large and therefore it could be assumed that it was more likely for personal use and not for trade.

The incident is from March, but Semerdzhiev was a passenger in a luxury car. The driver was Ivan Balabanov-Vaselina from Panagyurishte. The two are friends, and their acquaintances connect them with common interests in the black lotto with fixed situations in matches from the lower divisions. Ivan Balabanov made headlines at the beginning of last year when he brutally beat a man in front of his child, but he was imprisoned for a short time only for illegal weapons. He is also under investigation for presenting a fake diploma to the traffic police, with which he obtained a driver’s license. Just like Georgi Semerdzhiev, Balabanov has a thick criminal record. He is a close friend of Zlatomir Ivanov-Zlatko Barettata. The road accident with the two recidivists took place on the road Sofia – Chepintsi. The Mercedes jeep, driven by Balabanov, flew at over 120 km/h, overtaking other cars and a truck that was turning left at an intersection. However, the maneuver surprised Ivan Vaselina, he tried to go around him, continued forward, failed to return to the road and crashed into the guardrail.
