Suspicious Death Investigation Underway in Harstad: Latest Updates and Details from Police

– We are at an early stage in the investigation. For investigation reasons, we cannot go into details about the death at this time, says police prosecutor Siw Skogstad Johnsen on Friday morning.

On Thursday morning, a dead person was found in a home in Harstad. The deceased has now been sent for an autopsy in Tromsø.

Operations manager in the Troms police district, Rune Nilsen, confirms to NRK on Friday night that they are investigating a suspicious death.

– We are currently investigating what appears to be suspicious. We are on site and doing forensic investigations, he says.

It was the newspaper iHarstad that first mentioned the case.

Crime technicians are late from Tromsø

The police have started an investigation into the case, and crime technicians from Tromsø have been sent to Harstad for further investigations.

The police received a report about the incident on Thursday at 16:30. After that, police technicians were sent from Tromsø to assist the investigation.

On Thursday afternoon, the police closed off the home in Harstadbotn, and set up cordons at the site.

Relatives of the deceased were notified on Thursday.

According to the police, Fåre currently has no status as a suspect in connection with the death.

– Many loose threads

On Thursday, the police did not want to comment on what makes them consider the death suspicious.

– We have a little too many loose ends. We now have crime scene technicians on the scene, who will try to pick up some rocks and see if that will give us any answers as to how suspicious this is.

– I don’t want to comment on the relationship any further than that, he said.
