A police operation took place at Frankfurt Airport on Saturday. Parts of Terminal 1 were closed, as was the regional train station. A man had threatened violence.
The Federal Police at Frankfurt am Main Airport reported shortly after 6 p.m. that there was an operation in Terminal 1. There are “partial areas being blocked”. She later stated that the regional train station at Frankfurt Airport was “currently closed”. Trains would not be diverted via the long-distance station. Terminal 1 is mainly used by Lufthansa, its subsidiaries and alliance partners.
And in the evening the federal police said: A patrol had approached a Slovenian man at the airport at around 5:16 p.m. who had not been wearing a protective mask. «He immediately showed aggressive behavior towards the officers and said ‘I’ll kill you all, Allahu Akbar'”. The officials assumed that his statement was “serious”. The man also tried to escape, but was overwhelmed.
Baggage left behind
The suspect was arrested. He left his luggage behind when he tried to escape. Therefore, in view of the unclear situation, a large area of departure hall B was cordoned off. The police disarmers were able to give the all-clear after examining the luggage.
