Suspicion of Yellow Fever in Gabon: the government’s response

Health Minister Max Limoukou on Thursday announced measures to prevent and combat yellow fever as a response to the alert issued by the military health service.

Initially silent, the government, through the Minister of Health, Max Limoukou came out of his reserve on the yellow fever alert in Mitzig in Woleu-Ntem. If it rejects any possibility of an epidemic because the diagnosis dates from June 2019 and the two people diagnosed have been treated in the meantime, the government has still announced measures to intensify actions to prevent and fight against yellow fever.




These measures listed by the Minister of Health are, among other things, the strengthening of epidemiological surveillance of yellow fever in health facilities and in communities; the strict application of the vaccination card control in accordance with international health regulations, at the main airport and land gateways; the obligation of all international travelers to update their vaccination against yellow fever; the intensification of routine vaccination activities and the need for parents of children from nine months to have their children vaccinated against yellow fever; the need for the population to carry out health and hygiene actions.
