Suspicion of machete attack in New York was motivated by radical Islamism | World | News | The newspaper

The man accused of assaulting police officers with a machete near Times Square, New York, on New Year’s Eve, intended to commit an act of jihadism against government officials. He also shouted “Allahu akbar” before hitting an officer in the head and trying to grab another officer’s gun, prosecutors in the case said Wednesday.
