Suspicion of collusion was raised regarding first-grade pine mushrooms produced in Uljin, Gyeongsangbuk-do. This is because it was sold at a lower price of about 300,000 won per kg compared to pine mushrooms from other regions.

According to the Uljin-gun Forestry Association on the 22nd, in the Song Song bidding held on the afternoon of the 20th, grade 1 was sold at 110,000 won per kg, and grade 2 at 85,000 won per kg.

On the same day, the winning bid for the first grade in the nearby city of Yeongdeok-gun was set at 426,000 won, and the second grade bid was set at 366,000 won. Uljin bunches were sold at a price four times lower than Yeongdeok bunches.

Yeongdeok bunches, which were the most sought-after items by consumers, were sold for 114,487,000 won, while Uljin bunches were sold for 40,000 won.

Just a day ago, Songi from the Uljin area was sold at 417,700 won for first grade, 340,000 won for second grade, and 125,500 won for grade 2. The winning bid price dropped by more than 300,000 won overnight.

It has been reported that Uljin pine farmers are urging the Korea Forestry Association to provide appropriate compensation and investigate the truth, saying, “It is impossible for the winning bid to fall significantly compared to neighboring areas without collusion by middlemen.”

Kang Seong-cheol, head of the Uljin County Forestry Association, said, “We are doing our best to protect the rights and interests of our members, farmers, and pine-producing renters.” He added, “To prevent accidents like this from occurring, we will not only participate in the bidding until the end of this year’s pine tree trial, but also correct the distribution order.” said.
