Suspended MP Gündoğan files summary proceedings against Volt

Her lawyers have said so in a statement. Gundoğan was suspended by her party last Sunday for transgressive behaviour. She is still a member of the House of Representatives, but at the insistence of her party does not participate in debates and does not appear in the media.

Say nothing

The party declined to comment on the nature of the allegations. According to Volt, this is necessary to create a safe atmosphere for the reporters.

The accused MP himself previously said he had ‘no idea’ where the cross-border behavior would pass.

Gündoğan says in a statement that she “regrets” her suspension and “experiences it as a nightmare”. She doubts whether the suspension by her party members is lawful. Nevertheless, she says she is holding on to her seat.

Not a satisfactory solution

Gündoğan’s lawyers Geert-Jan and Carry Knoops say that the MP ‘regrets that it had to come to this, because she has given Volt the opportunity several times in recent days to settle the situation’. She says that for her ‘no satisfactory solution has been reached and offered’.

Volt responded Friday evening, but said nothing about the summary proceedings. The party only stated that they are not happy that Gündoğans has sought out the media.

The case will be heard on February 28 in Amsterdam.
