An overly enthusiastic pastor with too much temperament can go astray in his enthusiasm. Apparently this is the case with the Mexican pastor Alfredo Gallegos from Chucándiro, better known as The father guns. The controversial priest, who reportedly presided over the Eucharist with a revolver under his coat, advised his parishioners in his homilies to also bring weapons to fight the drug cartels themselves. Now he has been suspended from the archdiocese of Morelia. Father Pistolas is also known for his often pompous words. For example, in a homily last year, in front of a full church, he assaulted a woman because of her overweight.
In the Archiepiscopal Circular Carlos Garfias Merlos 21 September, all the parishes of the archdiocese are called to Father Pistolas, who has been warned several times, not to be offered the Eucharist in their churches, nor to invite him to repeat his call. The controversial clergy have repeatedly urged parishioners not to be helpless in the face of gangs of drug traffickers who steal their livestock or mistreat their wives and daughters. I’ll tell you, buy a gun and let the government go to hell! It is our duty to protect our lives and that of our loved ones.
The state of Michoacán de Ocampo, to which Chucándiro belongs, built a tradition of armed and vigilante civilian movements from 2013 to 2014. The residents were thus able to drive out a notorious drug cartel. But in the meantime, other gangs of drug traffickers, including the notorious ones Jalisco-kartelthey have taken their place and kidnappings, murders and shootings continue.
