The police has tonight in the investigation program Bureau Brabant from Broadcasting Brabant 24 recognizable suspects who participated in the curfew riots in Eindhoven in January. It concerns 22 men and two women.
Since tonight, fourteen other suspects can be seen on the site of the police themselves. “You can’t get away with it, that’s for sure,” says the head of the regional police.
Sunday, January 24, hundreds of people attended collected in the center of Eindhoven to protest against the corona measures. Things got out of hand in the afternoon. Destruction was committed around Eindhoven Central station. Among other things, windows of the station were smashed. A ProRail car was also set on fire and a supermarket in the station building was looted.
Convictions
It is not the first time that the police has identified suspects of the riots in Eindhoven. Also in February that happened.
A number of suspects have since been convicted for their role in the riots. For example, a 35-year-old man from Weert has been sentenced to eight months in prison for violence against the police and looting a supermarket.
A 24-year-old man from Eindhoven was sentenced to six months, of which two months on probation, and a 47-year-old man from Nunspeet was sentenced to three months for throwing a bicycle at a water cannon.
