According to Leon Charles, the chief of the Haitian police, there is no doubt. Christian Emmanuel Sanon (63) is a key suspect in the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. He was murdered (or more precisely: slaughtered) in his own bedroom last Wednesday.
The assassination squad is said to have consisted of 28 men: 26 Colombians and two Haitian Americans. Soon after the murder, 17 of them were arrested, with automatic rifles, machetes, walkie-talkies, hammers and bolt cutters seized. Of the rest, three have been killed and eight are still on the run. The shocked Colombians were shown to the press last Friday.
