Those reprisals were threatened during an extortion attempt in the preliminary Maldives investigation, in which the fruit company had to pay millions and leave the police out, otherwise arbitrary employees would later be liquidated.

It all started after fruit trader De Groot from Hedel found a batch of drugs in their South American imported fruit and called the police. This had to be settled. The main suspect, Ali G. from Naarden (1985, former residence Bussum), appears in both investigations, in Panther it concerns attempts to instigate murders in Rosmalen, Kerkdriel and Hedel.
