A 23-year-old man from the Bronx was arrested on a robbery charge in connection with a vehicular accident in which passengers inside the defendant’s Lexus SUV allegedly attacked the other driver and jumped on the roof of the victim’s Kia pickup, it said. police on Wednesday.
Authorities say the attack dates back to March 30, at about 6:40 p.m., when the 53-year-old victim, who was driving a Kia pickup, collided with a Lexus SUV heading north on Exterior Street in The Bronx. It happened right in front of the Best Buy store, added the uniformed woman.
The collision caused both vehicles to hit a parked Honda sedan, which was empty. After the impact, five male passengers in the Lexus and the 23-year-old driver, identified as Miquiel Guerrero, surrounded the Kia truck, police said.
One man climbed on top of the Kia while another began punching the victim repeatedly in the face, the officer said. The victim fled the scene. Two of the alleged attackers got into the truck he had left behind and fled. Three others fled in the Honda sedan.
Guerrero, the driver of the Lexus, remained at the scene and was taken into custody, police said. He was subsequently charged with robbery. The attorney’s information was unknown.
The victim was treated at a hospital with a fractured eye socket and lacerations following the attack. Police continue to search for the other five suspects in the case.
