Polda Metro Jaya revealed that a number of suspected terrorists were arrested in the area DKI Jakarta and its surroundings have prepared about 100 detonable bombs. In the Jakarta area and its surroundings, the police have arrested six suspects terrorist.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Yusri Yunus said the explosives and bombs were the result of searches at the residence of suspects ZA and HH.
“If all that is added up, nearly 100 more bombs will be prepared,” Yusri told reporters at the Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Tuesday (30/3).
There are five active bottle bombs containing Triacetone triperoxide (TATP), which is a chemical compound for making high-explosive bombs weighing up to 1.5 kilograms.
Then, at the house of the HH suspect the police also secured 2 kg more TATP which had been detonated by the police around the location. The bombs will later be mixed with other chemicals.
“ZA is the one who made, assembled the bombs. The bomb was the bottle bomb,” said Yusri.
Yusri did not elaborate on the plan or location of the explosion prepared by the suspected terrorists. He only said that currently investigators from the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police were still investigating.
This includes the identities of suspected terrorists who are strongly suspected of having links to the banned mass organization in Indonesia, the Islamic Defenders Front. In the evidence shown by the police, it was found the attributes and membership card (KTA) of FPI.
“The team is still investigating the correlation between these four suspects, who he said were formerly banned mass organizations with him as a terrorist member. We are still investigating this,” he said.
Arrest 94 Terrorist Suspects
Head of the General Information Section (Kabagpenum) of the National Police, Kombes Pol Ahmad Ramadhan, said Densus 88 had arrested 94 terrorist suspects since the beginning of 2021.
“The evidence is that we are serious about carrying out the period during 2021 from January to March, Densus 88 has arrested 94 terrorist suspects,” Ramadhan told reporters at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Tuesday (30/3).
Even though the police have an important role, the community must also take an active part in the aspect of prevention. Ramahan said the public needs to be involved in being aware of the spread of radical ideology and the activities of terrorist groups.
Including recitation at Villa Mutiara which was followed by a suicide bomber at the Cathedral Church, Makassar.
“When people see foreign associations, they can report to the police. Like the pearl villa, in a residential area, meetings are held, all of whom are from outside,” said Ramadhan.
“It means not from the complex. At least local officials, RT or RW can report the whereabouts of these people,” he added.
The police intensified operations to arrest suspected terrorists after a suicide bomb exploded on March 28, 2021 at the Makassar Cathedral Church.
In the two days since the incident occurred, 18 terrorist suspects have been arrested. They came from Makassar (7), West Nusa Tenggara (5), and Jabodetabek (6).
