Russia denies
“We have nothing to do with it,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the agency Interfax according to Moscow. “Even if the Americans could not do anything about it for many months, one should not blame the Russians for everything without reason.” Peskov also recalled the proposal by Russian President Vladimir Putin to work more closely with the US on cybersecurity.
It was only on Tuesday that the IT security company FireEye fell victim to a hacker attack in the USA. According to the company, the actions of the perpetrators pointed to a state-organized attack. The hackers were after information about government customers and diagnostic applications of the company.
In the past, FireEye had discovered a series of attacks by North Korean hackers on banks and exposed targeted disinformation campaigns from Russia and Iran.
