A 34-year-old man who has been arrested for the attack on a press photographer in Lunteren will remain stuck for another 90 days. The court in Gelderland has determined this this afternoon.
The man is suspected of pushing the journalist off the road in his car with a shovel in April. The press photographer had come to Lunteren to take pictures of a car fire, but was attacked with sticks on the spot by a group of bystanders. Then he fled into his car.
With the excavator, the car, containing the journalist and his girlfriend, was tipped over. The vehicle eventually ended up in the ditch upside down and the fire brigade had to free the couple. Both were slightly injured.
Attempted homicide
Gelderland broadcaster reports that the Public Prosecution Service wanted to detain the suspect longer because he is accused of attempted manslaughter. The court therefore agreed with that wish.
The man became suspects along with two other suspects detained for the attack. They have been sent home before, but remain suspected of open violence and threats.
