US authorities announced on Wednesday the arrest of the man suspected of shooting in the New York subway on Tuesday morning, after the city police received a report about him.

US channel CNN reported, quoting New York City authorities, that “police responded immediately to the report, located the suspect – Frank James -, arrested him and took him into custody”.

During a press conference, the city’s mayor, Eric Adams, announced that the New York authorities have arrested the alleged perpetrator of the attack perpetrated the day before in a subway train in Brooklyn and thanked the police of New York for his efforts in this regard.

For her part, the city’s police chief, Keechant Sewell, said in a statement to the press that “the suspect was arrested without incident”, according to CNN.

“He will be prosecuted for ‘terrorist attack’ in Brooklyn,” she added.

She praised all members of the New York City Police (NYPD) who worked tirelessly over the past 30 hours to neutralize James.

Frank James, a 62-year-old African-American, opened fire Tuesday morning at rush hour on a number of passengers when the train entered the “36th street” station, south of Brooklyn, injuring 23, including 10 by gunfire, according to Keechant Sewell.
