The alarm from Södertälje first came at 8pm on Tuesday evening. On the spot, two children under the age of ten were found “lifeless” in a home. The following morning, the police announced that both, a girl and a boy, were dead.
A man and a woman have been arrested on probable cause on suspicion of murder. According to the police, the two suspects are the children’s guardians.

One of the people, the man, was seriously injured during the arrest. Region Stockholm states that he was taken to Karolinska University Hospital but does not want to comment further on the state of the injury.
Not looking for more perpetrators
During Wednesday, the crime scene remained cordoned off by police for technical investigations. Searching for more suspects in the case is not relevant, it is announced.
– The technical investigation continues here during the day, and then the work that has been done will be summarized and then we will continue to work on trying to find out how this happened, says police spokesperson Per Fahlström.
Several people alerted the police
Since last night, the police have also been knocking on doors in the area. Several people are said to have sounded the alarm in connection with the incident, and several interrogations have already been carried out.
– It is part of the preliminary investigation, but I cannot go into what exactly emerged in those interrogations, says Fahlström.
Suspect probable cause
Prosecutor Ulrika Rosén, who is leading the preliminary investigation, does not want to say more at the moment than that an intensive investigation is underway and that the two people have been arrested on probable cause on suspicion of murder, which is the highest level of suspicion.
– Interrogations will be held and a crime scene investigation will be carried out, she says in a press release.
At the latest on Saturday at 12 o’clock, the prosecutor must make a decision whether the arrested persons should be requested to be detained or released.
