Suspected Karmøy intruder charged: – Sara (18):

One Monday night last autumn, 18-year-old Sara Aase Hvalrygg from Karmøy in Rogaland woke up to a person standing outside her bedroom.

When the family the next day checked the surveillance camera hanging outside the door, they could see a masked person walking in and out of her room repeatedly.

A man in his 20s is now charged in the case.

– I hope I can finally manage to get some peace inside me, at the same time I hope everyone around me and in the local community can get the same, the 18-year-old writes in an SMS to Dagbladet.

The incident in September shocked the family.

They reported the case to the police, who despite many tips were initially unable to reveal their identity.

Less than two months later, Hvalrygg’s family discovered that a person had been observed on camera surveillance outside the house during the night.

Arrested at night

The police then received several reports of similar incidents, but several of the cases were dropped due to lack of information about the perpetrator.

They initiated increased patrols in some of the areas. On the night of 28 May, a patrol became aware of a man in his 20s who was staying near one of the houses where it had previously been reported that unauthorized persons had entered the home and the property.

The man, who matched the descriptions of the perpetrator in question, was arrested and arrested.

– In questioning, the man has explained that he was out for a walk when he was arrested by the police, and has not pleaded guilty, says police attorney John Olav Thorbjørnsen in a press release.

Dagbladet has tried to get in touch with the accused’s defender, Erik Lea, but has not yet received an answer.

– Uncomfortable

Hvalrygg says that she has recently had good contact with the police, and received updates on the progress of the case.

– The shock was great, and unpleasant, especially when it turned out that I knew well who this person is, says the 18-year-old.

– I am very grateful that the police have worked well and arrived at someone they choose to arrest, she writes further.

New interrogation

Thorbjørnsen tells Dagbladet that the accused man is being questioned again today.

He also emphasizes that the police are early in the investigation.

– We are now working on reviewing and analyzing material from the accused man’s mobile phone. There is still a long way to go before we can get an answer to what has actually happened, the police attorney says.
