Frankfurt am Main (dpa / lhe) – Due to suspicion of fraud of grants worth millions in relation to the Crown Bridge aid, the prosecutor’s office and the police searched numerous residential and commercial premises in Hesse. Two tax consultants and a tax consultant from the district of Gießen and 21 entrepreneurs from the districts of Gießen and Offenbach received the visit of the investigators, as announced Thursday by the public prosecutor in Frankfurt. The searches ran for several months from June 29 to October 19.

The accused tax advisors are therefore suspected of providing false information in a large number of applications for crown aid for the years 2020 and 2021 in order to unfairly provide the plaintiff operators with state support. False invoices were reported to have been submitted by the 21 entrepreneurs.

The damages are said to amount to 3.4 million euros. The payment of an additional 7.5 million euros was prevented by the controls of the Gießen regional council and the tax offices of Hesse. Written documents, computers and data carriers were seized during the searches.
