Suspected drunk man stops car in the middle of A17 | Inland

The officers were driving on the highway around 9 p.m. when they suddenly saw the vehicle come to a stop. They, like another motorist, had to make an emergency stop to avoid an accident.

The stationary car had no hazard lights on. The police immediately turned on the blue flashing light of their police car to warn the other traffic behind and then walked to the stationary car.”

A 40-year-old man from Ridderkerk was in the vehicle. He barely responded to the officers. “One of them then forcibly removed the man from the car and placed it in the verge, while the other officer pushed the man’s car into the verge. It smelled strongly of alcohol in the car.”

The first breathalyzer seemed to indicate that the man was indeed intoxicated. At the police station, however, he became increasingly aggressive and did not complete the breath analysis. He also refused to cooperate with a blood test. “When he tried to hit the officer, he was put in jail, where he spent the night. He will be questioned on Sunday.”
